Vat Heater Over Temperature Protection

We have options.

None of them cheap, to be perfectly honest.

But if it prevents you killing your £1000+ PTFE vat heater, probably worth it, to be fair.

Less so on a 250 quid Stainless Steel one, though.

So our initial advice is to fit a level control switch in your vessel.

Various folks have told me over the past 15 years that it’ll cost less than 20 quid, which seems a bargain to me.

Now, I was picturing in my head something like a lavvy ballcock type thing –

…but no, when I conducted my minimalist G##gle research for this webpage, apparently it looks more like this –

When one of you lovely punters implements this in a vessel, and is kind enuf to send me fotos, links to equipment, wiring diagrams, etc, I shall happily bung it all on this page, as I love a Win-Win, and believe that sharing is caring.

When somebody does it in an IBC, I shall be even more intrigued & eager to share, as they are a pain in the arse, with only a little 4″? screwcap hole to access thru.

Anywaysup, back to trying to sell you something expensive.

The Boss is a fuse on the element, which when exposed out of solution, pops the power rather than letting your element glow like buggery, become a fire hazard, and eventually go bang. Nasty price of £169, as it’s a lorra faff for us. And it needs to be  wired to auxilliary relay or control panel, so when fuse blows, it cuts power to the controller, box at top. So, potentially a faff for you, too.

The Safety Cutout System is standalone, so a lot less faff for you. But more for us, so is gonna set you back £230.

Click on the links, have a mooch, then go buy yourself a level switch. You now it makes sense, Rodney.
