A Guide to Becoming the Best Possible Version of Yourself, One Tiny Habit at a Time by Tynan
Briefest Precis.
- A habit is an action that you take on a daily basis with little or no required effort or thought. Habits are the easier route to superpowers, automating the stuff that serves & optimises you. Success is all about consistency around the fundamentals. Daily habits are easier to maintain.
- Real “Old” habits are things that you are, not that you do. Be a meditator, be an early riser, be a healthy eater, be a regular mover.
- Make the habits easy enuf to achieve everyday, never miss a day. One minute of meditation. Walk round the block. They will grow.
- If you do miss a day, don’t miss two. Missing one day reduces likelihood of it sticking by 5%, two days is about 40%, three days is a new habit of not doing it.
- Learn from your mistakes & re-prioritise. “I am better than this”, Growth Mindset.
- Focus on the process, not the results. How well you stick to the plan rather than the number on the scale.
- Remove negative habits. Spot the triggers that send you to drugs, quick stimulation or negative friends. Triple Win – The negative habit is gone, the ancillary negative effects of that habit are gone, and we have a new good habit.
- Aim for the Finish Line, not the Start Line. Cumulative impact. A lifetime is made of decades, years, months, days, hours & a hopefully bloody long series of moments. Start small, succeed, become consistent, & increase at a manageable pace, to create a masterpiece lifetime
- “Consistency of practice is the mark of the master.” George Leonard
