- Sleep is the keystone to everything. A great day starts the night before. Knowing, applying & living this is the first & most important step. We sleep a third of our lives for a bloody good reason. Stop believing the bullshit that it’s cool to get by on # hours of sleep cos it makes you more productive in those extra hours. It doesn’t.
- Go to sleep & get up at the same time. Every day. This sets your diurnal clock.
- Get morning sun, asap. Cloudy will do, if you live in England like me. This sets your diurnal clock.
- Avoid screens before bedtime. 90 mins ideally. Digital Sunset. Tech has developed exponentially, we simply can’t keep up. Blue light tells you it’s not yet time to wind down.
- Sleep in the dark.
- Caffeine blocks adenosine, which tells us to be tired. Half life of 5-8 hours. Curfew at 2pm, latest.
- Sleep cool, 60-68°F or 16-20°C.
- Get your Vitamin G, Grounding. We are part of nature, but have become very separate from it. Barefoot walking is free & fun, if you look where you are going.
- Meditate in the morning to get a better nights sleep. Proven. Before sleep as well for bonus points.
- Ritualize Your Night. Ritual comes from Latin for “a proven way to do something”. We all have a drunk monkey inside our heads, give him time to settle down for the night.
